One of the more common injuries we see runners and walkers struggle with is plantar faciitis. Whether injured through the use of poor footwear choice or overuse, we have several cost effective ways to treat and help heal plantar fasciitis. A majority of the time, our customers are able to find a solution by working with one of our FIT experts, at either our Alamo Heights or RIM location, rather than costly doctor's visits and un-needed injections.
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the connective tissue on the bottom of the foot called the plantar fascia. This fibrous tissue attaches on the inside (medial aspect) of the heel bone (calcaneus) and runs the length of the arch, ending at the base of the toes. Pain is often felt on the inside heel and sometimes in the arch. Typically, the pain is worse in the morning with the first step out of bed and improves throughout the day as the tissue loosens.
